The Bigger Picture

"I fully agree with you about the significance and educational value of methodology as well as history and Philosophy of Science.  So many people today—and even professional scientists—seem to me like somebody who has seen thousands of trees but has never seen a forest. A knowledge of the historic and philosophical background gives that kind of independence from prejudices of his generation from which most scientists are suffering. This independence created by philosophical insight—in my opinion—is the mark of distinction between a mere artisan or specialist and a real seeker after truth." Einstein. letter to Robert A. Thornton, 7 December 1944.

Witnessing the technological improvements in the medical equipment industry over the last 40 years, we're proud to introduce the first validated automated disinfection technology for reusable medical items, that's designed to be utilized by clinical staff point of use.

Einstein's was correct in concluding to his friend, to suggest a broader view to appreciate the true nature of invention.  We need to temper our instinctive cognitive biases, then we can gain the ability to see the bigger picture.

Non-critical is critical when it is you, or a loved one, that is being diagnosed or having a procedure with reusable equipment.  When the time comes, you should be focused on your quality of care, and not if the equipment has been properly serviced between uses.  Complete disinfection is critical to lower infection risk.

The Chemical Disinfectant

What are some limitations of this disinfection device?..

NOT APPROVED items that:

  • are FDA rated Class III implantable or high-risk
  • are inserted in open wounds or non-intact skin
  • come in direct contact eye tissues (e.g., contact lens and cases)
  • have tubes, lumens where aerosol cant reach (e.g., such as respirator airways and tubing, endoscopes)
  • are designed and approved for conventional sterilization methods (e.g., items designed for steam, ETO, hydrogen peroxide)

SONOCIDE

SONOCIDE is the latest production design. It boasts the following enhancements:

  • larger control panel with "on-screen" user video tutorials
  • improved door seal for quieter cycle operation
  • a SONOCHEM "safe access" door
  • hardware improvements for fit and finish
  • new software platform with greater system performance monitoring

Novel Ultrasonic Aerosol Generator

RESTEC has patented a novel device that utilizes an ultrasonic standing wave technology.  A calibrated "ultrasonic standing-wave" energy field is generated.  This makes efficient use of ultrasonic node/anti-node standing wave fields, and produces a; consistent, monitored, and optimum aerosol particle size.

The aerosol generator's precision particle size aid the method of action for optimal anti-microbial efficacy.  Another key feature of this design, is the systems ability to monitor in real-time, the critical acoustic energy output parameters.

This standing wave acoustic energy monitoring is a RESTEC exclusive patented feature.

Novel Recovery Method

The function of the recovery module is to dry the treatment chamber and contents, then breakdown the aerosol chemistry forcing it into the vapor phase.  Only the base organic components exist; oxygen, water, and carbon.

During recovery, high-speed fans circulate the air in the chamber.  The liquid vapor condenses onto cold surfaces, and the remaining gasses are passed over heated surfaces.

Activated carbon filtration is used to reduce the gaseous vinegar odors.  After cycle completion, the small amount of liquid water condensate quickly evaporates into the atmosphere.

The complete chemical breakdown and recovery is another great patented feature adding safety and convenience.

Independent 3rd Party testing shows...

The 5-minute automated disinfection cycle achieves a total kill of all organisms tested.  (above example: Staphylococcus aures - MRSA)  Testing shows this device is effective against sterilization resistant spore forming organisms.

The first automated disinfector device designed for patient care areas to receive FDA clearance...

This automated disinfection device exceeds FDA disinfection requirements of shared and reusable patient care items offering a validated 5-minute cycle.

SONOPRO is the first "automated disinfector" specifically designed for use in patient care areas outside of the central-sterile processing departments to offer a validated greater than Log-6 (99.999robial efficacy on nonporous surfaces.9%) anti-mic

FDA/NIH SEARCH -"AUTOMATED DISINFECTOR"

SONOCHEM® Packaging

SONOCHEM® is packaged in two-hundred and fifty (250) cycle sets.  The shelf life for all SONOCHEM® products is one year.

Each two-hundred and fifty (250) cycle set contains one (1) round white bottle of SONOCHEM-A concentrate disinfectant, and ten (10) clear/square bottles of SONOCHEM-B buffered diluent.  The ratio of concentrate to buffered diluent packaging is 1:10.

Once a SONOCHEM-A (round/white) bottle is loaded in the system, it remains until two-hundred (250) cycles are completed and maintains the labeled one-year shelf life.

Each bottle of SONOCHEM-B (square/clear) remains loaded until twenty (25) cycles have been completed.  When SONOCHEM-B is loaded, mixture is monitored by the system and expires in 8-days.

The MEC is maintained for every cycle

The dilution prescription of SONOCHEM is efficacy performance in SONOPRO is validated using a G-Stearo biological indicator coupons (Mesa Labs, Bozeman MT) using the overkill method.

The minimum effective concentration (MEC) mixture is maintained in the system at all times.  We provide an appropriate chemical to validate the concentration needed to ensure proper anti-microbial method of action.

The computer monitors the system progress to ensure the precision blending of SONOCHEM® chemistry, and delivery of  high-powered ultrasonic aerosol, for consistent cycle-to-cycle liquid consumption and aerosol performance.

Damage Free Disinfection... Introducing the next-generation of automated disinfection devices...

RESTEC is pleased to present the first automated disinfector device approved for clinical care areas to receive FDA clearance.

This patented Hydrogen-Peroxide with PAA aerosol system delivers the highest efficacy and shortest total cycle time of any FDA approved automated disinfector device.

It provides damage-free disinfection using a safe EPA registered "food-grade" chemistry.  The entire 5-minute process is achieved at room temperature.  No warm up time is needed.  When the cycle is complete, your equipment is dry and ready for immediate use.

Use the latest fully automated disinfection technology, and protect your patients, staff, and equipment with confidence.

Reusable medical devices are known vectors for the spread of dangerous pathogens in hospital settings. Our automated disinfection system saves time and mitigates the risks associated with manual disinfection methods.

Beginning of aerosol injection process,

SONOPRO is the first device using Aerosolized Hydrogen-Peroxide with PAA to receive FDA clearance.

Robust technology engineered for clinical environments...

The system is totally self contained, only requiring a standard AC power outlet. It can be located in areas convenient to clinical staff.

Designed for busy clinical treatment areas such as the ER, ICU, and L&D departments.  Long-term care facilities and busy outpatient clinics could also benefit.

Our automated disinfection solution is intended for use in busy patient care areas, with high inventories of reusable equipment that require disinfection before reuse.

Simple, quiet operation with subtle lighting indicators will not disturb staff or patients during all shifts in clinical settings.

Cycle validation standards...

An NIST-traceable validation process ensures accurate reliable validation results.

Geobacillus stearothermophilus (12980) from Mesa Labs (Bozeman MT) is designed for hydrogen-peroxide sterilization units.
